Baskin, LA - James Hales Killed in Car Crash on US-425 near LA-867

Baskin, LA (November 30, 2022) – A 78-year-old man has died as a result of a traffic accident that took place on Saturday in the Baskin area. On November 19, at around 11:45 a.m., Troop F with the Louisiana State police responded to a crash that occurred on US Highway 425.

Preliminary investigations show that a 36-year-old man named Cody Jones was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado South on US Highway 425 when his vehicle collided with the rear end of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. Both of the vehicles went off the roadway as a result of the collision.

The driver of the 2005 Chevrolet, 78-year-old James Hales of Rayville, Louisiana, was severely injured in the crash. Authorities arrest him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Jones suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
