Monroe, LA (October 14, 2025) – A violent crash in Monroe left two people injured after a man reportedly drove his car into a carport during a heated argument. Authorities arrested 64-year-old Gilson Menyweather on charges of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring and aggravated battery following the incident, which occurred on October 12.

According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, Menyweather had been drinking before the confrontation turned dangerous. Witnesses reported that he got into his vehicle during the dispute and drove directly into the carport, striking two individuals who were nearby.

Deputies confirmed that one victim sustained a collapsed lung and a severely injured elbow, while the other suffered injuries but declined transportation to the hospital. Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist, and one of the victims was taken to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.

Following the crash, deputies took Menyweather into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the assault.
