Sterlington, LA (October 6, 2025) – A tragic head-on collision late Friday night, October 3, claimed the life of a Sterlington man and left another driver injured, according to Louisiana State Police.

The crash happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Dowd Road, just east of Louisiana Highway 139. Investigators reported that 43-year-old Timothy Gross of Sterlington was driving a 2013 Toyota Rav4 eastbound when he crossed the centerline for unknown reasons. His vehicle collided head-on with a 2012 Nissan Altima traveling westbound on Dowd Road.

Troopers confirmed that Gross was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, who was properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities collected routine toxicology samples and submitted them for further analysis.
