Truck Accidents in Louisiana

Being involved in a truck or car accident can be frightening and overwhelming. Taking the right steps afterward can protect your health, your rights, and your ability to recover compensation. Here are important actions to follow if you’re ever in a crash:

  • Check for injuries and call 911 – Safety comes first. Assess yourself and others for injuries and request emergency medical help immediately. Even if injuries seem minor, medical professionals should evaluate everyone involved.
  • Move to a safe location – If possible, move vehicles out of the roadway to prevent further collisions. Stay clear of traffic while waiting for responders.
  • Contact law enforcement – Call the police to report the accident. An official accident report is often critical for insurance claims and potential legal action.
  • Exchange information – Collect names, phone numbers, driver’s license details, and insurance information from all drivers involved. If witnesses are nearby, ask for their contact information as well.
  • Document the scene – Take photos of vehicle damage, the roadway, skid marks, and any visible injuries. Clear evidence helps establish what happened.
  • Notify your insurance company – Report the accident to your insurer as soon as possible, but avoid admitting fault. Provide only the necessary details.
  • Contact a truck accident lawyer – An experienced truck accident attorney can help protect your rights, negotiate with insurance companies, and fight for compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Accidents involving trucks often cause serious injuries and raise complicated questions about liability. Victims should not face these challenges alone.
