Farmerville, LA (May 2, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 33-year-old man on Friday, May 1, on Louisiana Highway 15, just north of Louisiana Highway 549. The accident happened shortly after 11:00 a.m., prompting an investigation by state authorities.

Deairio Loggins, 33, of Bernice, was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima southbound on Highway 15 when his vehicle drifted off the right side of the road. The Chevrolet struck the Nissan head-on in the northbound lane. Loggins suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet sustained moderate injuries.

The Chevrolet's driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been further detailed by authorities.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine its exact cause.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Deairio Loggins. We also wish the injured driver a swift recovery.

Most Dangerous Roads in Farmerville, LA: What Drivers Need to Know

Farmerville sits at the heart of Union Parish in northeast Louisiana, a region where rural two-lane highways carry daily traffic at high speeds with little margin for error. The roads around this small community have seen their share of serious and fatal crashes over the years, and a few corridors stand out as particularly risky.

Louisiana Highway 33 has been the scene of multiple deadly crashes in and around Farmerville. Fatalities on this road have involved both single-vehicle incidents and head-on collisions.

The highway runs north through town and south toward other Union Parish communities, and its long, open stretches can give drivers a false sense of security.

Louisiana Highway 15 is another road that has claimed lives near Farmerville. At least one fatal crash has occurred at the intersection of Highway 33 and Highway 15, and the corridor north of town has seen deadly collisions in recent years. The combination of rural sightlines, high speeds, and limited lighting makes this stretch especially risky.

Statewide, Louisiana has consistently ranked among the deadliest states for drivers, with fatigue, speeding, impaired driving, and failure to wear a seatbelt among the most common contributing factors in fatal crashes. Those same risks apply to the roads in and around Farmerville every single day.
