Holly Ridge, LA (February 2, 2024) – The Louisiana State Police confirmed that 76-year-old Walter Carroll of Rayville, Louisiana, lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday evening. At approximately 6:00 p.m., authorities were notified that they were needed at the scene of a crash on US Highway 80.
Investigations show that a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on US Highway 80 behind a Nissan Frontier. At the same time, a Dodge Ram was traveling on the same road in an eastbound direction. For reasons unknown, the Altima attempted to pass the frontier when it became involved in a collision with the Dodge. The force of the collision caused one of the vehicles to strike the Frontier. One person involved in the accident, identified as Caroll, was fatally injured. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two additional people were injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals for medical care. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
